FC Porto in Argentina for Bergessio
FC Porto has gone to Argentina to get Gonzalo Bergessio to be part of next seasons squad and a possible replacement to Lisandro Lopez. Porto is in negotiations for the 24 year old forward with San Lorenzo. This would be Bergessio's second stint in Portugal after a failed attempt in 2007 with Benfica but since going back to Argentina Bergessio has been on fire in the Argentian League and was even called up to the National side by Diego Maradona this year.

Portugal held to draw against Estonia

Portugal once again have a disappointing performance against Estonia being held to a scoreless draw. Portugal was without Ronaldo, Simao, Bosingwa and Deco plus Quieroz only did dress Ricardo Carvalho and Boa Morte from Saturdays starting line up but being held scoreless to Estonia is another poor performance that has many portuguese fans scratching their heads. Beto was by far the player of match, making some big stops on Estonia in the second half that could have easily given the hosts the victory. Portugal did have a couple of good chances as Eliseu just shot a Nani set up wide in the first half but all in all a poor performance. There was another notable absense which was Joao Moutinho who was also sent home after Saturdays matchup but did not play which leads to speculation that he could be hurt or had a falling out with the coach, if its the latter we will probably not see Moutinho again during this qualifying campaign

Portugal in must win matchup versus Albania
Portugal visit Albania today in Group 1 World Cup qualifying action in what has turned into a must win game for the Quinas. Portugal sit tied in third spot in Group play with Sweden seven points back of co-leaders Denmark and Hungary. Portugal has a chance to pull to four points of Hungary as they sit idle today and depending the result of the Sweden, Denmark matchup today could do the same on the Danes. Portugal has had a disappointing campaign so far and anything other then a victory in Albania could send Portuguese fans hiding in shame as this once flamboyant team stumbles its way through qualification. Portugal can take back control of their destiny with a victory today as they will still encounter Hungary twice and the Danes in Denmark with their last matchup against group minnows Malta, who for the record is Portugal's only victory in this Group. The time has come for all players and not just Cristiano Ronaldo to step up and show the World that Portugal will not go down without a fight and the time to do this is today in Albania
