Portugal have named Paulo Bento the new National side head coach as the former Sporting head man takes the helms and looks to direct the squad to Euro 2012 after a dismal start. Paulo Bento is rumoured to be signed to a contract that will pay him $720,000 Euros per year.We take a look at the former Portugal player's (35 Caps) managerial career. Bento started his coaching career managing Sporting's youth team and moved up to the main squad midway through the 2005-06 season. Bento went on to guide Sporting to a second place finish that season. Bento never did win a Portuguese League title but did manage to finish runner up four consecutive times before he resigned in November 2009.
Paulo Bento lead Sporting to two Taca de Portugal titles and two Super Cup titles earning the nickname "Papa-Tacas" from the Lions supporters. Bento also lead Sporting out of the Group stage of the Champions League for the first time ever in 2008-09.
Paulo Bento finished his coaching career with Sporting having managed 190 games with 117 wins, 44 draws and 32 losses for a 60.62% winning percentage. The 41 year old has a nation to satisfy now and many Portuguese fans around the globe. Good Luck Mr. Bento the world is now watching.
