Almeida gets brace as Portugal win final tuneup

Portugal got off to a sluggish start againt Mozambique in part in what could have been the team reacting to the loss of Nani for their World Cup campaign. The team announced that Nani would miss the entire tournament and has been replaced by Benfica midfielder Ruben Amorim. The team went into the half scoreless and flashes of a zero-zero draw to Cape Verde a few weeks earlier started dancing in the heads of fans but this was not to be. Danny quickly opened the scoring for Portugal in the 52nd minute when he took a pass from Deco and deked out the Mozambique keeper to give his side the lead. Danny then turned playmaker as he passed a low cross onto the feet of Almeida at the 75th minute mark. Almeida scored his second of the game when Ronaldo who came in at the 63rd minute mark sent a low shot that was mishandled by the keeper and Almeida easily tapped in the ball off the rebound. Portugal now get set to take on Ivory Coast Tuesday as the kick off their World Cup campaign.
