Looking back at Week 8 in the Portuguese League

Week 8 started off with Pacos Ferreira getting the best of Academica 2-0. Olhanense defeated Guimaraes 1-0 while Benfica earned the only road win of the week 1-0 over Beira Mar and moved into top spot in the Portuguese League.

Sunday saw the home team dominance of this Week take off as Maritimo defeated Setubal 1-0 to move into third place in the league. Rio Ave earned their first win of the season and moved out of the basement in Portugal with a 2-0 win over U. Leiria. Porto added to Nacional's woes this season with a 5-0 thrashing to tie Benfica atop Portugal and Braga won to tie Maritimo for third place with a 3-0 win over Feirense.

On Monday Sporting moved into a three way tie for third place with a 6-1 thumping of Gil Vicente.
