Nuno Gomes set to leave Benfica
Nuno Gomes' days as a member of Benfica are set to end as the 34 year old captain's contract ends June 30/11 and coach Jorge Jesus has no interest in keeping the striker with the club for next season.
Benfica would like to offer Gomes a managerial position with the club but the soon to be 35 year old is looking to play one more season before deciding to hang up his cleats. Gomes looks destined to join a club in Major League Soccer or some club in the middle east for his final season.
Nuno Gomes appeared in 391 games with Benfica scoring 160 goals placing him 8th all time in club history. Gomes was also a member of two league titles, three league cups, a Super Cup and a Taca de Portugal while playing with Benfica

Portugal win move them into top spot in Group
Portugal have the chance today to make ammends for their poor start to the Euro 2012 campaign as they host Norway at the Estadio da Luz Stadium for top spot in Group H. The Norweigans will prove a tough foe after already handing the Portuguese a 1-0 loss in Norway costing former coach Carlos Queiroz his job.
This can all be forgotten today as a win by Portugal will move the squad into a tie with Norway for top spot in the Group but the Portuguese will have the tie-breaker in +/-. The Norweigans know the importance of this game and will be looking to catch the Portuguese on the counter attack as the Quinas roared on by the home crowd will push the attack in this game.
